This section only covers how to use the VMware vSphere Client. This section does not cover how to install the guest OS on a VM for the packet capture.
This procedure only applies to the Standard Switch (vSwitch) and not the Distributed Switch (dvSwitch).
The audio troubleshooting procedures require the following prerequisites:
Use the following procedure to install a VM for packet capture.
If required, build a new VM that performs the packet capture (for more information, refer to your VMware vSphere documentation center).
You must connect the new VM to the same vSwitches as the SBC SWe Lite instance.
If the SBC SWe Lite has multiple media (pkt*) interfaces and the call uses more than one pkt interface, ensure the packet capture VM also connects to the same vSwitches as the SBC SWe Lite instance.
The following example displays the SBC SWe Lite with two pkt interfaces; the packet capture VM (shark) connects to the same vSwitches as the SBC SWe Lite instance.
Use the following procedure to configure the vSwitches for packet capture.
For the vSwitch you want to modify, click Properties.
You must modify each vSwitch that the traffic flows through.
Click Edit.
Select Accept from the Promiscuous Mode drop-down menu.
After you complete this procedure, you can capture packets on the packet capture VM.
