Use the Test UA page to make calls to and from the

Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
to verify VoIP connectivity and conduct audio quality audits.

Note

The Managing Test UA feature is not supported by

Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
15.x and above versions.

Using the Test UA Settings Page

Test UA settings are only available on some

Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
models.

  1. Choose VoIP > Test UA.

  2. Select the Enable Test UA checkbox and click Submit. Test UA settings fields become active.

  3. Configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide.

    Note: Un-checking this box does not delete any pre-existing Test UA configuration.

    Use SIP Username for SIP authentication

    Enter the SIP username for SIP authentication.

    Register with proxy

    Select the checkbox to register Test UA with a configured domain using a configured outbound proxy. If the box is not checked, the Test UA does not register.

    Test UA IP Address

    Enter the LAN IP address assigned to the user agent.

    When left blank, the IP address is set to the class C subnet of the VoIP ALG LAN plus 252 by default. For example, if the ALG LAN is 192.111.1.0/24, the default IP address of the SIP UA is 192.111.1.252.

    If the default IP address conflicts with another host on the VoIP ALG LAN, you can define the Test UA IP address in this field. The default configuration is sufficient in most cases.

    Test UA Configuration

    SIP Display nameEnter a display name.
    SIP UsernameEnter a SIP User name to define the identity of the Test UA. This can be either a name or a number that is used to reach the Test UA.

    SIP Authentication Name

    Enter the SIP authentication name if the Use SIP Username for SIP authentication box is NOT checked in Global Configuration. This name is used by the Test UA to authenticate itself and can be the same as the SIP Username.

    Password

    Edit Password

    Select the Edit Password checkbox and enter a password in the field provided to set authorization credentials for the softswitch or outbound proxy. Refer to Password Guidelines for help with setting passwords.

    Domain

    Enter the softswitch domain where each Test UA is provisioned and authenticated. If the field is left blank, the Test UA uses the

    ALG LAN IP address by default.
    Codec PreferenceEnter the preferred codec to use to decode and play voice packets when making or receiving a call.

    Use Preferred codec only

    Select the checkbox to specify that only the preferred codec is used when Test UA is placing and receiving a call.

  4. Click Submit to save your settings.

  5. Proceed to Verifying Connectivity with Test UA.

Verifying Connectivity with Test UA

Use Test UA to verify VoIP connectivity by placing a call to the

Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
itself. Confirm that the call was successfully placed and received and monitor the quality of service (QOS) for the call in the System Logging Messages.

Note

A telephone number must be assigned to the Test UA on the softswitch assigned to the

Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
.

  1. Choose VoIP > Test UA.
  2. Complete the steps in the Using the Test UA Settings Page section.

    Note

    Use the telephone number assigned to the Test UA and the IP address for the softswitch on which the telephone number is registered.

  3. Place a call to the telephone number. A successfully placed call to the
    Unable to show "metadata-from": No such page "_space_variables"
    results in a series of beeps.
  4. Verify test results on the system:

    1. Choose Network > Network Information.

    2. Scroll to System Logging Messages. This section provides a message for every logged call.  

      A successfully placed call appears in the syslog:

      Call ID [ID] [IP Start Address]->[IP End Address]: Call complete.  Remaining active calls=0.  Minimum MOS=[MOS Score] Average MOS=[MOS Score]
