This object provides ping state, local admin state and remote admin state for a peer.

On the SBC main screen, go to Monitoring > Zone > Zone Specific > Peer Pathchk Status. The Peer Pathchk Status window is displayed.

By default only ten entries are displayed in a view. You can choose the number of entries to be displayed under the Show entries drop down box. 

The Peer Pathchk Status can be checked for each Address Context or for each Zone or for all the Address Contexts and Zones created. Use the drop-down box to select the desired Address Contexts and Zones.

The conditions available for Ping State are described in the table below:

Active

When the ipPeer's pathCheck state is set to "enabled," the Ping State transitions to Active.

PathCheck is in the process of sending OPTIONS pings to the peer (at the rate specified by the pathCheckProfile).  

PathCheck is working to determine if the BLACKLISTING or RECOVERY criteria (as specified by the pathCheckProfile) is met.

Ping State will transition to:

  • Up - When the RECOVERY criteria is met.
  • Down - When the BLACKLISTING criteria is met.
  • Inactive - When the ipPeer’s pathCheck state is set to "disabled."

Up

PathCheck detects that the RECOVERY criteria (as specified by the pathCheckProfile) is met.

The ipPeer is RECOVERED (as in, not BLACKLISTED).

PathCheck continues to send OPTIONS pings to the peer, working to detect when the BLACKLISTING criteria is met.

Ping State will transition to:

  • Down - When the BLACKLISTING criteria is met.
  • Inactive - When the ipPeer’s pathCheck state is set to "disabled."

Down

The pathCheck BLACKLISTING criteria (as specified by the pathCheckProfile) is met. 

The ipPeer is BLACKLISTED. 

PathCheck continues to send OPTIONS pings to the peer, working to detect when the RECOVERY criteria is met.

Ping State will transition to:

  • Up - When the RECOVERY criteria is met.
  • Inactive - When the ipPeer’s pathCheck state is set to "disabled."

Inactive

When the ipPeer’s pathCheck state is set to "disabled," the Ping State transitions to Inactive.

PathCheck stops sending OPTIONS pings to the ipPeer.

The ipPeer is RECOVERED (as in, not BLACKLISTED)

Ping State will transition to:

  • Active - When the ipPeer’s pathCheck state is set to "enabled."

The conditions available for Local Admin State are described in the table below:
