In this section:

The Path Check profile specifies the conditions that constitute a connectivity failure, and in the event of such a failure, the conditions that constitute a connectivity recovery. Refer to Path Check Support for details.

Note

To update the Path Check Profile, you must:

  1. Disable the profile
  2. Apply updates
  3. Enable the profile

Changes will take effect when the profile has been re-enabled.

Note

The SBC determines the SRS reachability through the SIP ARS status. You must configure the Path Check Profile to determine the reachability of the SRS peers and treat a failure response, such as 501, as an OPTIONS failure.

To View Path Check Profile

On the SBC main screen, choose a path:

  • All > Profiles > Services > Path Check Profile
  • Configuration > Profile Management > Category: Service Profiles > Path Check Profile

The Path Check Profile window is displayed.

Note

For the EditCreate and Copy tools, the parameter Protocol presents two options in the adjacent drop-down list - SIP Options (default) and Icmp. If you select Icmp, the parameter Reply Timeout is displayed.

For more information on the parameters and their values, see Path Check Profile - Parameter Description Table.

Path Check Profile Parameters:

Parameter

Length/Range

Description

Name

Up to 23 characters

Enter the name of the Path Check Profile.

(mandatory field)

Failure Response Codes

400-699

or all, all4xx, all5xx, all6xx

Use this parameter to define one or more comma-separated response codes to treat as failure responses.

  • all – include all response codes from 400-699
  • all4xx – include all 4xx response codes
  • all5xx – include all 5xx response codes
  • all6xx – include all 6xx response codes
Note

When you use more than one value, enclose the values in square brackets [ ], separating each value with a space. Entering  a value without using brackets appends the value to the existing configurations.

The Failure Response Codes values for a Path Check Profile and SIP Ars Profile within the same zone/TG use similar values to avoid unexpected behavior. For example, avoid setting the Path Check Profile Failure Response Codes to "all" and SIP ARS Profile Failure Response Codes to "all4xx,all6xx".

Note

In the EMA, the Failure Response Codes are configured as comma-separated values. In the CLI, the values of the Failure Response Code are separated by spaces.

Protocol

N/A

Choose the the ping protocol type.

  • SIP Options (default)
  • Icmp

Send Interval

1-600

Enter the interval (in seconds) to send the PING requests to the endpoints duration.

The default value is 60 seconds.

(Mandatory field)

In Activity Monitoring Timer

0 - 600

The interval timer parameter stops the endpoint's OPTION ping for a duration configured under this field when there is SIP traffic from the endpoint. If the timer is set to 0, the OPTION ping won't be paused for that Path Check Profile. If the interval has a non-zero value, the SBC CNe checks the activity status after the expiry of the interval period.

The recommended value is 4 to 5 times the Send Interval value.

Note

This feature applies to the SBC Cloud Native edition (CNe) only.

Modified: for 12.1.1

Reply Timeout

1-10

Enter the time interval (in seconds)  to lapse for the ping request to time out.

Note

This parameter is only available if Protocol = "Icmp."

Reply Timeout
Count

(Mandatory field)

Note

Ribbon recommends to not configure Path Check Profile and SIP ARS Profile on the same peer to avoid unexpected results. As a general rule, the Path Check Profile is configured on the access leg where there is less traffic, and the ARS Profile is configured on the peer leg where there is continuous traffic.
