Overview

High Probability of Completion (HPC) features comprise a set of functionalities that provide an enhanced probability of call completion to authorized Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS) and Wireless Priority Service (WPS) users during network stress and/or congestion.

Note

The use of the GETS SOFTWARE is restricted in the U.S. and U.S. TERRITORIES to NS/EP users authorized by the Office of the Manager, National Communications System (OMNCS).

There are two methods in HPC call classification:

  • Early HPC classification—an HPC call is recognized based on the received SIP RPH content in the incoming INVITE or the code point in Calling Party's Category (CPC) parameter of the ISUP-MIME. For ANSI, the CPC parameter is National Security/Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP) and for ITU, the CPC parameter is International Emergency Preference Scheme (IEPS).
  • Late HPC classification—An HPC call can also be recognized by PSX during analysis of the Called Party Number.

HPC capable switches such as GSX9000 enable HPC calls to receive additional network support to increase the chances of successful call completion.

For more information on GSX9000’s GETS and WPS feature, refer to GSX documentation Support for Government Emergency Telecomunications Service and Wireless Priority Service.

The SBC supports a subset of GSX9000's HPC capabilities and the capabilities are as follows:

  • HPC call classification that is, early or late HPC classification.
  • Call Admission Control (CAC) treatment: ingress CAC for early HPC classified calls and egress CAC treatment for early and late HPC classified calls.
  • The Resource-Priority header (RPH) is used for treating and marking SIP calls as HPC calls.
  • Network Wide HPC (NW-HPC) License enforcement.
Note

View Hpc Call Profile

  1. On the SBC Main screen, navigate using any of the following EMA paths:
    • All > Profiles > Services > Hpc Call Profile
    • Configuration > Profile Management > Category: Service Profiles > Hpc Call Profile
  2. The Hpc Call Profile window displays.

Create Hpc Call Profile

  1. To create a new Hpc Call Profile, click +New Hpc Call Profile on the Hpc Call Profile List panel.

  2. The Create New Hpc Call Profile displays.

    Hpc Call Profile Parameters

    Parameter

    Description

NameThe name of the HPC Call Profile.
    State

Determines whether the HPC Call Profile entry is enabled or disabled.

    • Disabled (default)
    • Enabled
    DSCP Value

The DSCP code for the HPC Call. The value has a range of 0-63, with a default of 0.

The DSCP configuration in the SIP signaling port marks non-HPC calls. The DSCP value configured in the HPC profile takes precedence over the DSCP value configured in the SIP signaling port, and applies to all outbound traffic (IPv4 and IPv6) associated with HPC calls. For more information, refer to High Probability of Completion (HPC) Using GETS and WPS.

Note: When the DSCP Value is modified, the new value applies only to new HPC calls while the existing HPC calls use the previously configured value.

Note: The DSCP Value configuration in the Hpc Call Profile applies only to UDP transport.

  3. Provide the values for the fields and click Save.

For more information, refer to HPC Call Profile - CLI.
