The routeset Test action is manually initiated and is unique to the Japanese and New Zealand MTPs as described in NTT/TTC Q.707. This feature is used to ping a routeset by sending a Signaling Route Test (SRT for Japan and SRTM for New Zealand) message, to confirm if the STP or End Node at the end of the routeset responds. The STP or End Node responds by transmitting a Signaling Route Acknowledgement message.
An SRT may fail for the following reasons:
- the routeset SS7 Variant is other than Japan or New Zealand (NTT/TTC)
- the routeset is prohibited
- all links to the routeset are unusable (that is down and/or inhibited)
The following table lists and describes the Test State messages that may appear in the Test State field.
Do not confuse the Routeset SRT/SRA with the Link SRT/SRA. The Link SRT/SRA is the Japanese and New Zealand MTP’s equivalent to Signaling Link Test Message (SLTM) and Signaling Link Test Acknowledgement (SLTA) in the ANSI/ITU Standards.
