Collecting Common System Status Information

Verify the system status and health before a software upgrade. Performing this task ensures that possible problems occurring during the software upgrade are not caused by a pre-existing condition. It is recommended that you verify the following:

• all SS7 links are in service (see To confirm that all SS7 links are in service)
  
  
• all routesets are in service (see To confirm that all routesets are in service)
  
  
• there are no alarms on the system (see To confirm that there are no alarms on the system)
  
  
• all VNodes are active (see To confirm that all VNodes are active)
  
  
• all ADN Connections are active (see To confirm that all ADN Connections are active)
  
  
• all Transport Services are active (see To confirm that all Transport Servers are active)

To confirm that all SS7 links are in service

1. From the Main Menu, click MTP3.
   
   

2. Click All Links.
   
   As shown in the following screen capture, all links in service.

To confirm that all routesets are in service

1. From the Main Menu, click MTP3.
   
   
2. Click the NA on which you want to confirm whether all routesets on this NA are in service.
       
   
   
   
   
3. Click Routesets.
   
   
4. Repeat this procedure to confirm that the routesets on the NAs configured on the given system are active.

To confirm that there are no alarms on the system

1. Log onto the Ribbon Signaling System.
    
   
   
   

2. Make sure that there are no alarms on the system.

To confirm that all VNodes are active

1. From the Main Menu, click MTP3.
   
   
2. Click the NA on which you want to confirm that all VNodes are in service (active).
   
   
3. Click VNodes.
    
   
      

4. Repeat this procedure to confirm that the VNodes on the NAs configured on the given system are active.

To confirm that all ADN Connections are active

1. From the Main Menu, click DSC.
   
   
2. Click the DSC Instance on which you want to confirm whether all ADN on this DSC are in service.
        
   

3. Click All ADN Connections.
    
   
     

4. Repeat this procedure to confirm that the ADNs on the DSCs configured on the given system are active.

To confirm that all Transport Servers are active

1. From the Main Menu, click DSC.
   
   
2. Click the DSC Instance on which you want to confirm whether all Transport Servers on this DSC are in service.
   
   
3. Click DSC Nodes.
   
   
4. Click DSC Node.
   
   
5. Click Transport Servers.
    
   
     

6. Repeat this procedure to confirm that the Transport Serves on the DSC Nodes configured on the given system are active.
