Use the following steps to mount SBC 7000 chassis in a 23 inch 4-post rack.

Due to the size and weight of the SBC 7000 chassis, at least two people are required when lifting, mounting or unmounting the chassis.

  1. Gather the fixed mount brackets from the rack kit.
  2. Optional step: Using the fixed mount front brackets, locate the holes for your two top rack mounting screws (one for each bracket), whichever size is appropriate.  Ensure there is at least 2.25” clearance above and 1.5” below bracket location.  Also, ensure four rack holes are visible through the four obrounds in the bracket.  Install top location rack mount screws only, finger tight, then back screws out one full rotation to allow the bracket to slide freely between the screws and the rack.

  3. Using six of the supplied #10-32X5/16” flathead Philips screws (three screws per bracket), secure the front fixed mount brackets to the sides of the system.

  4. Measure the depth of the rack, from the front face of the front rack rails to the rear face of rear rack rails.
  5. Gather the rear mount support brackets from the rack kit.
  6. Install the rear mount support brackets on the sides of the system, extending the rear mount support brackets to 1” less than the measured depth of the rack. Use two to three of the supplied #10-32X5/16” truss head Philips screws for each bracket, depending on rack depth and hole alignment.  If your rack is especially deep, you may only be able to secure the rear mount support bracket using only two screws per side.

  7. Lift the system to the desired location in the rack.  If top location rack screws have been installed, align top clearance hole in the front mount rack bracket over screw head and install fully flush with rack, sliding screw into obround relief in the bracket.

  8. Using four screws per side, secure the fixed mount front brackets attached to the system to the front of the rack.  The size of the screw varies, depending on your particular rack.
  9. Gather the two 23” rear mount brackets from the rack kit.
  10. At the rear of the rack, insert the rear mount brackets into the rear mount support brackets and secure them to the rear of the rack using two of the appropriate screws on each bracket.
