In this section:

These instructions assume that your SWe Lite is upgraded to Release 7.0; the system must be running 7.0 to support 1, 2 or 4 vCPUs (depending on your license). See Working with Licenses

Starting in 7,0, the SWe Lite supports the following:

  • For Memory (RAM), valid settings are 1 GiB, 2 GiB, or 4 GiB.
  • For vCPUs, valid settings are 1, 2 or 4 CPUs.

required for the number of CPUs is as follows:

Memory required for number of vCPUs

Number of vCPUsAmount of RAM required
11 GiB
22 GiB
44 GiB
The instructions below outline how to increase the number of vCPUs and increase memory on your VM instance, according to deployment type.

Update vCPU and RAM

SWe Lite on KVM Hypervisor

The VM instance must be powered down before updating memory and vCPU.

  1. Login into a terminal access software (such as Putty), and log into the KVM server.
  2. From the list, click on the applicable VM instance.
  3. Power down the VM.
  4. Select Edit > Virtual Machine Details
  5. Select View > Details or click the icon
  6. From the menu, click CPUs.The SWe Lite supports 1, 2, or 4 vCPUs.

    Add vCPUs

  7. Click Apply.
  8. From the menu, click Memory. Each SWe Lite instance with 1 vCPU requires 1024 MiB (1GiB) RAM; this amount is increased according to the number of vCPUs. See Adding vCPU and Increasing Memory.

    Update Memory

  9. Click Apply.
  10. Restart the VM instance.

To verify the updated values, see Adding vCPU and Increasing Memory.

SWe Lite on Microsoft Hyper-V

  1. Launch Hyper-V Manager from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Power down the VM in which you will be adding vCPUs and RAM.
  3. Right-click on the desired VM instance and select Settings.
  4. Click on Memory. Each SWe Lite instance with 1 vCPU requires 1024 MiB (1GiB) RAM; this amount is increased according to the number of vCPUs. See Adding vCPU and Increasing Memory.

    Add memory

  5. Enter the desired memory and click OK.
  6. Click on Processor. The SWe Lite supports 1, 2, or 4 vCPUs.

    Add vCPUs

  7. Enter the desired virtual processors and click OK.

To verify the updated values, see Adding vCPU and Increasing Memory.

SWe Lite on VMware ESXi

Add a vCPU and increase RAM on the VM instance as following:

  2. Click on the applicable VM instance
  3. Power down the VM.
  4. From the Getting Started tab, click Edit virtual machine settings.
  5. From the Hardware tab, click Memory.

    Add Memory

  6. Update the desired memory size. Each SWe Lite instance with 1 vCPU requires 1024 MiB (1GiB) RAM; this amount is increased according to the number of vCPUs. See Adding vCPU and Increasing Memory.
  7. From the Hardware tab, click CPUs.

    Add vCPUs

  8. Update the desired number of vCPUs. The SWe Lite supports 1, 2, or 4 vCPUs.
