Tone tables allow the

 administrator to customize the tones a user hears when placing a call. You can modify the tone to match your local PSTN or PBX. The default tone table is configured for the values used in the United States for the following categories: Ringback, Dial, Busy, Congestion, Call Waiting, Disconnect, and Confirmation.

A maximum of eight Tone Tables is permitted in the system.

Do not configure a ringback or congestion tone with frequencies greater than 1KHz when also setting for "continuous" (as opposed to Cadence). 


To create or modify an Entry to a Tone Table:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation pane, click Tone Tables > Default Tone Table.

  3. Click the expand ( ) icon.

Tone Tables - Field Definitions

Frequency 1 and Frequency 2

Specifies the frequency in Hertz.

(info) Frequency 2 is optional

Amplitude 1 and Amplitude 2

Specifies the amplitude in decibles per milliwatt (dBm) for Frequency 1 and Frequency 2.

(info) Amplitude 2 is available only when Configure Frequency 2 is set to Yes.

Continuous Tone

Specifies whether to use a continuous tone or a cadence.

Cadence On

Specifies the duration of time, in milliseconds, that the tone is on. Available only when Continuous Tone is set to Cadence.
Also applies in the Double Cadence pane.

Cadence Off

Specifies the duration of time, in milliseconds, that the tone is off. Available only when Continuous Tone is set to Cadence.
Also applies in the Double Cadence pane.

Double Cadence

Specifies that the tone is used in a double cadence form.

This only applies to POTS fixed phones, where the high voltage ring signal is switched on and off to create the ringing pattern. In North America, the standard ring cadence is "2-4", or 2000 ms followed by 4000 ms of silence (default Sonus SBC 1000/2000 ring cadence). In Australia and the UK, the standard ring cadence is 400 ms on, 200 ms off, 400 ms on, 2000 ms off (or double cadence).
