USB Ports

Usage

The Sonus SBC 1000 sports two pairs of USB ports (as illustrated above) — each pair serves a particular purpose:

These ports are optionally used to attach an external USB drive to store core dumps for troubleshooting (in the event they occur), and as a survivability mechanism for Active Directory Caching (when configured). See Sonus SBC 1000 Front Panel section below for proper usage.

If your Sonus SBC 1000 has a built-in Application Service Module (ASM), this USB port is primarily used for Updating the ASM Recovery Partition, and to (optionally) transfer files between a USB drive and the ASM.

Support

(warning) The following section is applicable only to the USB ports on location #2 on the Sonus SBC 1000's front panel.

For the Sonus SBC 1000/2000 system to properly recognize the USB thumb drive, you must ensure the following prerequisites are satisfied:

  • The USB storage must be of FAT32 file format.
  • The storage must be at least 1GB (or more) in size.
  • The SBC does not require a reboot after the USB drive is installed.
