For CODEC G711SS, specifies whether Silence Insertion Descriptor (SID) packets are sent during a call.
To View and Edit Silence Insertion Descriptor
On SBC main screen, go to Configuration > Profile Management > Category: Media Profiles > Packet Service Profile > Silence Insertion Descriptor.
Select the desired Packet Service Profile from the drop-down list to view its respective Silence Insertion Descriptor parameters.
The Silence Insertion Descriptor window is displayed.

G711Sid RTP Payload Type
| Specifies the G.711 Silence Insertion Descriptor (SID) RTP payload type, in the range of 0 to 127. This applies only if preferred audio encoding is G.711 with Silence Suppression. The default value is 19, which is Sonus-proprietary comfort noise. The other possible value is 13, which is standard RFC 3389 comfort noise. |

| • enabled —send SID packets during silence intervals to provide an estimate of the background noise to the receiving end. • disabled (default )—Do not send SID packets, placing the burden on the remote side to determine the way it will generate comfort noise. |
Make the required changes and click Save at the right hand bottom of the panel to save the changes made.
