The File Download feature works in conjunction with the File Server feature. The files requested for download cannot be stored locally until a RAMDISK is created by the File Server feature creates a RAMDISK. Refer to to Configuring File Server Settings.

When using FTP, File Download logs into the FTP server as the “anonymous” user when using FTP. File Download assumes the files reside in the /pub directory of the FTP server.

When serving files using HTTP, only the files that are listed on the File Download page can be served out by the HTTP server. Files that are pushed to the local system RAMDISK by an external management system are not available unavailable for HTTP download.

Before you Begin

  1. Choose Admin > File Download.


  2. To enable local file storage, you must enable the File Server. Click File Server to open the File Server page and refer to Manage the File Server to configure settings.

  3. Return to the File Download page and configure settings using the information in the following table as a guide.

    Enable File Download

    Select the Enable File Download checkbox.

    File Server Address

    Enter the IP address or FQDN of your FTP server. For example: ftp.edgewaternetworks.com.

    File Refresh Frequency

    Enter a value in hours that the system contacts the remote FTP server to refresh files.

    List the Files to Download from the Server

    Displays a list of files that are available to download from the remote server. FTP files are assumed to be in /pub. Enter file names in any of the following formats:

    <filename> space <filename> or

    <filename>

    <filename>

    Add a new fileEnter a new file to download in the File field. All files must be in the /pub directory on the FTP server. For example: /pub/e_4570/.



  4. Click Submit to make your changes take effect.
  5. A message indicates that service will be temporarily interrupted. Click OK to confirm.
