The following steps link to the procedures needed to instantiate SBC SWe deployments on OpenStack using Virtual Network Function Manager (VNFM).

1Downloading the SBC SWe Software Package

Refer to the latest release notes for the names of the specific files to download to install the latest release. This includes:

  • .qcow2 file that contains the SBC installation software
  • Script to generate a customized Cloud Service Archive (CSAR) package file
  • Virtual Network Function Descriptor (VNFD) template file to use with the script

The CSAR file you generate will contain a customized VNFD file that defines the fundamental characteristics of your deployment based on the options you select when running the script.

2Pre-Instantiation Requirements of OpenStack

Ensure you have prepared your OpenStack cloud environment to meet the requirements for instantiating SBC SWe nodes.

3
Create SBC Clusters

If you are deploying SBC nodes in a cluster that will be managed by

Spacevars
0model3
, use the
Spacevars
0model3
UI to create the cluster object. Refer to SBC SWe Configuration Management for additional information on clusters and configuration management options.

4Instantiating SBC SWe on OpenStack using VNFM

Use VNFM to instantiate the SBC SWe nodes.

5Modifying SBC Cluster Configuration

For clustered deployments, procedures for accessing the CLI or the SBC Configuration Manager GUI to configure the SBC nodes.
