To complete the deployment, you must start the following Lync/Skype Services on the ASM in order for it to function as a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA):

  1. Lync/Skype Server, Front-End Service
  2. Lync/Skype Server, Mediation Service

At this stage those services are Not Running, you can verify this by Viewing the ASM Operational Status:


To Start the Lync/Skype SBA Services

  1. Click the Start SBA Services.

     


  2. A series of status messages will be dispatched:
    1. The Lync/Skype services are started:


    2. The action succeeds:


Verifying the Lync/Skype SBA Services are Running

When Viewing the ASM Operational Status, these services will appear as Running as shown below:

Tip

The Lync/Skype services can be stopped (and restarted) at anytime. See Starting and Stopping SBA Services
