The bottom two slots have dedicated functions: the System Controller Card (SCC7000) module and Core Server Card (CSC7000) module. The SCC slot (bottom slot) contains the SCC module used for chassis management and Processing (also known as BMC Baseboard Management Controller). The slot 0 (above SCC slot) contains the CSC module used for Control and Data plane processing. The top 4 slots (1-4) are used for optional specialized hardware modules, the first released module being the DSP-LC high capacity transcoding resource module. The CSC7000 and SCC7000 cards, monitor and control the chassis environment and operation.

CAT6 cabling may be required in environments where there is unusually high Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) from power lines, manufacturing equipment, or certain types of lighting. |
The Core Server Card (CSC7000) provides the control and data plane processing resources required by the Sonus Ribbon Session Border Control application. The control plane processing functional block is responsible all activities related to session management. This includes calls/sessions setup/tear down, media interface management, encryption services, etc. The data plane functional block is responsible for providing data switching functionality for the traffic packets received and sent through the CSC7000 card.
The CSC7000 cards contains a total of 8 x Small Form Factor Interfaces (SFP/SFP+):
