The SBC, like other Sonus devices, uses SNMP traps to notify management applications of faultsevents. SNMP traps are the messages that notify a management client that an event has occurred on the SBC node. These traps are not displayed in EMA and can be viewed from Insight EMS or other SNMP manager configured as a trap target. In case of error scenario, a fault notification trap is initiated at the device and forwarded to the EMS or to the other SNMP manager for processing.

Note

Up to 32 trap targets can be configured on the SBC.

The supported SNMP trap types are SNMP v1, v2, and v3. These trap types can be configured. 

The following command is executed in CLI to configure the SNMP traps:

Registering/Configuring Insight SNMP Network Management Station for SBC

Perform the following steps to register the

  1. Log into Sonus InsightTM Web-based Element Management System.

  2. The Users & Roles window appears. Select Insight Administration from the Network Mgmnt roll-up (left hand side of the Users & Roles window).

  3. The Insight Administration window appears. Select SBC 5x00 from the Register Node drop-down menu.

  4. Provide the name of the
    Spacevars
    0product
     in the Name field.
  5. Provide the Agent Login and Agent Password (default: admin/admin).
  6. Provide the information in Default IP Address for Host 1 and Host 2.
  7. Click Register.

Creating a View in EMA

Perform the following steps to create a view:

  1. Select Fault Manager from the Network Mgmnt roll-up (left hand side of the Users & Roles window). The Fault Manager window appears.

  2. Select the Views tab.
  3. Select All from the Resource Groups drop-down menu.
  4. Select Create. The Create View option appears.
  5. Provide a view name in the View Name field.
  6. In the Bars option, select Create.

  7. Select the devices from the Available Devices and place them in the Selected Devices option.
  8. Click OK. A view for the selected device will be created.
  9. Click Save. The view is saved and displayed in the left side pane.

Viewing Traps

Perform the following steps to view the traps:

  1. Select Real-Time tab from the Fault Manager window.
  2. Select All from the Resource Groups drop-down menu.
  3. Select the view from the Views drop-down menu. Click Open. The view is displayed.

  4. Double-click the Total Events bar. The Event Names appear for the selected device.

Clearing Traps

Perform the following steps to clear a trap:

  1. Select the trap to be cleared.
