An Overload Profile specifies a set of congestion thresholds

...

and congestion durations you can assign to a particular machine congestion (MC) level. When the "set" threshold for the profile assigned to a particular congestion level is exceeded for the "set" duration, the congestion level is raised to a higher level

...

and overload controls are applied to help alleviate the congestion. The profile also specifies "clear" congestion thresholds and durations.

...

The clear values specify the level to which congestion conditions must fall for the specified duration in order to return to the previous congestion level. These minimum clear durations prevent repeatedly switching in and out of congestion levels. You may

...

assign Overload Profiles to the system (

...

that apply throughout the

Spacevars
0product
).

...

  • CPU utilization
  • Memory utilization

The following default Overload Profiles are

...

automatically assigned to define thresholds and duration to system congestion levels 1-3 (MC1, MC2, and MC3):

  • defaultMC1
  • defaultMC2
  • defaultMC3

...

  •

In order to change its configuration, you must first disable an Overload Profile

...

. Then, when you enable the profile, you cause all

...

its parameter values to be validated. Once validated, these values are applied to the (system) congestion level

...

to which you assign the profile. When you make a change in this manner, the system congestion level is cleared if the Overload Profile was being referenced. Standby modules also perform congestion processing but you cannot configure the module settings.

To View Overload

On the SBC main screen, go to Configuration > Profile Management > Category: System Profiles >  Overload Profile.

Use this parameter to specify CPU and memory Set Threshold for a monitored resource.

  • cpu – CPU utilization percentage threshold at which the congestion level is set. (range: 0-100 / default = 85. A value of 0 disables CPU utilization as a congestion criterion.

...

Use this parameter to specify CPU and memory Clear Threshold for a monitored resource.

  • cpu – CPU utilization percentage threshold at which a congestion level is set or cleared. The clear threshold must be less than or equal to the set threshold. (range: 0-100 / default = 80).

...

Use this parameter to specify CPU and memory Set Duration for a monitored resource.

  • cpu – Length of time (in seconds) that CPU utilization percentage is above its set threshold before congestion level is set. (range: 0-65535 / default = 10). A value of zero sets the congestion level immediately.

...

Clear Duration

...

Use this parameter to specify CPU and memory Clear Duration for a monitored resource.

  • cpu -Length of time (in seconds) that CPU utilization percentage must be below its clear threshold before congestion level clears. A value of zero clears the congestion level immediately. (range: 0-65535 / default = 10).

...

Use this object to define the call accept percentage rate.

  • acceptPercentage – The rate (as percentage) to accept calls for the specified congestion level. (range: 0-100 / default = 100). A value of 0 rejects all calls. A value of 100 accepts all calls.

After you create the Overload Profile object, use the windows positioned below the Overload Profile window to set the specific values for set/clear thresholds and set/clear duration for the profile. See the following pages for more information:

To Copy an Overload Profile

  1. To copy an Overload Profile, click the adjacent radio button.
  2. Click Copy Overload Profile tab on the Overload Profile List panel. The Copy Selected Overload Profile window is displayed.
  3. Make any required changes and click Save.

To Delete an Overload Profile

  1. To delete an Overload Profile, click the adjacent radio button.
  2. Click the delete icon (X) at the end of the row.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Pagebreak

Make the required changes to the required fields and click Save to save the changes. The copied Overload Profile is displayed at the bottom of the original Overload Profile in the Overload Profile List panel.
