Overview

You can configure the

Spacevars
0product
to use a Primary DNS Server, a Secondary DNS Server, and a Domain Specific DNS Server (Split-DNS) to resolve FQDNs.

The Primary and Secondary DNS servers are configured in the Node Level Settings. For more information, refer to Configuring Host Information and DNS.

A Domain Specific DNS Server is configured through the Split-DNS settings. The following section describes how to configure the Split-DNS.

Info

You can also configure the Split-DNS using DHCP on the Logical Interface. For more information, refer to Configuring and Modifying Logical Interfaces .

Configuring Split-DNS

To create a Split-DNS entry:

  1. In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the left navigation page, go to Protocols > DNS > Split-DNS. An IPv4 example is shown below; you can configure the DNS Server IP using IPv4 or IPv6 format.

  3. Click the Create Split DNS List Entry () icon at the top of the Split DNS page.

  4. Enter the following information.
    1. In DNS Server IP, enter the IP address for the specific domain (IPv4 or IPv6).
    2. In Domain Name, enter the domain name for the specific domain.

  5. Click OK.

The entry now appears in the Split DNS table.

Create Split-DNS Entry - Field Definitions

DNS Server IP

The DNS Server IP is the IP address that can resolve names configured to the specified Domain Name attribute. Valid entry: IP address (IPv4 or IPv6).

Info

You can associate a DNS server with many domain names. Ensure to configure one entry for each DNS server and domain combination.

When a domain-specific DNS server fails, it fails over to the next domain-specific DNS server associated with that domain.  Global DNS servers are not used for a domain, even if all of the configured domain-specific DNS servers fail.

Domain Name

Name of the specified domain to use for Split DNS. Valid entry: maximum of 255 characters.

Info

Ensure to configure one entry for each domain and DNS server combination.
