Host Configuration - Field Definitions
FQDN/Host name
...
...
Specifies the FQDN or Host name. Maximum length: 255 characters.
Dynamic Refresh
...
...
Specifies whether the Dynamic Refresh option is enabled. This option allows dynamic resolution of the FQDN/HostName entered in the Hosts Table, as well as auto updates in case of dynamic IP changes. When Dynamic Refresh is enabled and the configuration is applied, a DNS lookup for the FQDN is performed and the resolved IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) is updated and retained in the /etc/hosts file.
Valid entries: Yes (dynamic resolution is enabled and the IP Address field is optional) or No (dynamic resolution is disabled and the IP Address field is required). Default entry: No.
Note |
---|
For all Hosts previously configured, Dynamic Refresh will be disabled by default. These hosts will not be refreshed dynamically unless you enable the Dynamic Refresh option. |
IP Address
...
Specifies the IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) associated with the FQDN/Host Name. Maximum length: 16 characters. This field is required when the Dynamic Refresh option is set to No.
- If an IP Address is resolved as part of Dynamic Refresh option, it is saved in the /etc/hosts file and and an entry is populated in the Hosts Table.
- If the IP Address field is unresolved as part of the Dynamic Refresh option, the entry is not added to the /etc/hosts file and the field is left blank in the Hosts Table.
