This section describes how to prepare for and physically install a
system.
Installing the SBC 2000 Chassis in a 4-Post Equipment Rack
The
chassis can be installed in a standard 19-inch, 4-post equipment racks. Mounting hardware is provided for racks with 24-inch and 30-inch depths.
Before installing the
chassis in a 4-post equipment rack, you must first assemble and attach the 2 rear support brackets to the two rear rack posts.
To Assemble and Install the
Rear Support Brackets
- In the mounting hardware bag provided with the system, find the rear support brackets (2) and 9-inch extension arms (2).
- If you are installing the system into a 30-inch depth rack, attach the extension arms to the support brackets.
Attach the support brackets securely to the two rear posts of your equipment rack. Refer to the illustration below for visual details of the assembly:

The illustration above shows the rear bracket assembly for a rack with a 30-inch depth. For racks with a 24-inch depth, do not use the 9-inch extension arm and attach each support bracket directly to the rear rack posts. |
To Install SBC 2000 in a 4-Post Equipment Rack
- Attach the 2 rack mounting ears securely to the front corners of the chassis.
- Attach the 2 pan handle plates securely to the rear corners of the chassis.
- Working with a partner, lift the chassis and slide it into the equipment rack, making sure to seat each pan handle plate into the support brackets mounted on the rear support posts.

Do not block the air vents on either side of the chassis. Both sides of the unit must clear to ensure proper cooling of the unit. |
Installing the SBC 2000 Chassis in a 2-Post Equipment Rack
The
chassis can be installed in a standard 19-inch, 2-post equipment racks by attaching the rack mounting ears to the middle attachment points on both sides of the chassis.
Warning |
---|
DO NOT mount the chassis using only the rack ears attached to the front corners on a 2-post equipment rack. Mounting the chassis using only the front mount rack ears will not provide adequate mechanical support and can cause damage the chassis and other equipment in the rack. |
To Install
in a 2-Post Equipment Rack
- Attach the 2 rack mounting ears securely to the center mounting points on both sides of the chassis.

- Connect a grounding wire to the grounding bolt on the left side of the rear panel, in accordance with System Grounding Requirements.
Connect power cords to the power supply and electrical sockets.
Note |
---|
If your equipment rack provides dual power circuits and your unit is equipped with a dual power supply, make sure to plug each power supply into a separate power circuit. |
Warning |
---|
DO NOT INSTALL EITHER RIBBON or TELECOM CABLES. You must complete the Initial Configuration before connecting the system to your network. |
Installing the Cable Management Bracket
In order to provide cable strain relief for cables connected to
interface cards, a cable management bracket is provided.
To Install the Cable Management Bracket
Place the cable management bracket on top of the pan handle plates.
Note |
---|
If you have installed the chassis in a 2-post configuration, you must install the pan handle plates on the rear corners of the chassis. |
