Excerpt

Telephone Number Mapping (ENUM) transforms the telephone number into a universal identifier that can be used across different devices and applications (voice, fax, mobile, e-mail, text messaging, location-based services and the Internet). ENUM can also be used to implement variety of services like number portability, call forwarding etc. It uses a DNS NAPTR record to translate a telephone number into a Uniform Resource Identifier or IP address that can be used in Internet communications.

Since a call may span across multiple network elements and to indicate in signaling to the next network element, that an ENUM query has already been made for the 'TEL URI', the "Process Enumdi" parameter is used.

The SBC can process the enumdi indicator received in ingress INVITE and avoid another redundant query and similarly, if it has done a ENUM dip in conjunction with ERE/PSX, it can send this parameter in egress INVITE thus preventing redundant queries further down the network. When a call spans multiple network elements, use the "Process Enumdi" flag to to notify the next network element that an ENUM query was performed for the 'TEL URI'.

  • If the R-URI transparency is enabled, then the SBC will not send the enumdi indicator in egress signaling even if an ENUM dip

  • SIP Trunk Group can be replaced with a different Feature Control Profile, if desired. However, deleting a Feature Control Profile from a
Sip
  • SIP Trunk Group object can cause call failures.
