Types of Alarms

EMA displays the following alarm tables:

  • Current
  • Cleared

The cleared alarm table displays all the alarms of type "clear" or "manual clear" from the historical alarms table. In addition, EMA also includes extended history by including clearing traps received from the platform.

Note

Each time an alarm is cleared, a trap is also sent. As the EMA stores that trap in its own database table, it effectively allows an extended alarm history.

Alarm management also contains two types of alarms based on the functionality:

  • SET A SET alarm has one or more clear alarms associated with it. A set alarms enables the alarm LED based on priority.

  • CLEAR A clear alarm disabled the alarm led when all alarms of that level are cleared. There are two types of clearing actions.
    • Manual CLEAR. A  manual clear alarm is a set alarm without a clearing alarm. An operator must manually remove the alarm from the alarm screen using CLI/EMA.
    • Automatic CLEAR. An automatic clearing  alarm  associates a clearing alarm to one or more set alarms, and is cleared without any human interference. For example, sonusCpNtpUpNotification clears both  sonusCpNtpDownNotification and sonusCpNtpAllServersOutOfSyncNotification.

Note

All alarm types can be manually cleared.
