Redirect ISO File

Perform the following steps to redirect the ISO file.

  1. Login as user root on the VMware ESXi GUI.
    1. Enter your VMware administrator user name.
    2. Enter your VMware administrator password.
  2. Click Virtual Machines, and click the VM that you want to configure.

  3. Click Edit to adjust the VM settings.
  4. Expand the CD/DVD Drive 1 drop-down menu.

  5. In the Status field, check the Connect at power on box.
  6. In the CD/DVD Media field, click Browse...

  7. Navigate to the ISO file and click Select.

  8. Click Save.

Install SBC SWe OS

Perform the following steps to install the SBC SWe OS.

  1. Login as user root on the VMware ESXi GUI.
    1. Enter your VMware administrator user name.
    2. Enter your VMware administrator password.
  2. Click Virtual Machines, and click the VM that you want to configure.
  3. Click Power on to power on the VM that has the ISO file.

  4. The ConnexIP Installer window is displayed. Press Enter.

    You are prompted to enter the login credentials once the installation is complete.

  5. Log onto the CLI as linuxadmin. The system prompts you for the following IP addresses:

    Make sure you enter the exact primary management IPv4, network mask, and gateway IP details. You will have to reinstall the OS if the details are incorrect.
    1. Primary Management IPv4 Address

    2. Primary Management Network Mask

    3. Primary Management Gateway IP Address

    4. IPv6 Address. Press y and enter the IPv6 address if you want to set IPv6. Press n if you do not want to set IPv6.

      The IPv6 address for management can be configured only in this step.

Verify the Configured Logical Interfaces

Perform the following steps to verify the MAC Addresses.

  1. Login as user root on the VMware ESXi GUI.
    1. Enter your VMware administrator user name.
    2. Enter your VMware administrator password.
  2. Click Virtual Machines, and click the VM that you want to configure.
  3. Click Console and select an option to open the console.

  4. Execute the following command to retrieve the mapping MAC address:

    ifconfig -a

    Execute the following command to retrieve the specific interface MAC address for the management interface:

    If you have other network interfaces configured for NIC teaming, repeat this step to retrieve the MAC addresses (refer to Configure the NIC Teaming).

  5. Note the mapping MAC address for each interface and then exit the console.

  6. Click Edit.
  7. Expand the Network Adapter drop-down menus and verify that the MAC addresses map to the correct network interfaces.

    In the Status field, do not uncheck the Connect at power on the box.

    If you are using a wide-area or low-bandwidth connection, the time delay over the network may cause the virtual machine to start autorepeat. This can manifest in unintended repeated keystrokes when typing in a remote console. If you experience this issue, refer to the VMware Knowledge Base for a solution.
