platform, system behavior in case of component replacement and insertion is a combined function of both the hardware and the software. The component replacement behavior of platform is:Hot Swappable Behavior: A hot swappable component can be removed and replaced without any involvement on the part of the user. The appropriate alarms will be raised and automatically cleared by the system. The node continues to deliver service if it is active or provide protection if it is standby. The hot swappable behavior provides a simple, higher-performance, and more maintainable method of achieving autonomic behavior.

Hot Pluggable Behavior: A hot pluggable component can be removed or replaced when the system is in running condition. The node stops providing the service. Depending on the removed component or device, the BMC may immediately power down the remaining components. Removing a hot pluggable component must not damage the component or the any other component of the system.
