This is a service affecting procedure. The existing configurations will be erased. Save your existing configurations prior to executing this procedure.

The existing configuration cannot be applied to other interface modes.

For example: Any existing configuration with 2x1 Gbps or 4x1 Gbps interface modes cannot be imported/applied when the interface mode changes to 1x10 Gbps mode.

Pre-requisites

  1. SBC 5400 should be running on 05.01.00R000 or higher version.
  2. Procure the required media interface licenses. Refer to   SBC 5400 Media Ports and Operational Modes to know the all the media interface licenses.Upload the
  3. procured licenses to SBC. Refer  To Install License Bundle for more informationAccess to original and all the subsequent licenses. Refer to SBC 5400 Interface Modes and Media Port Assignments table for the required licenses.
  4. Save all your current configuration. Refer to  Saving the SBC Configuration to know about how to save your existing SBC configuration. If you wish to return to 1 Gbps interface mode of operation, you can use the saved configuration. The 1 Gbps configuration cannot be applied/imported to 10 Gbps interface mode.
  5. Keep the Sonus-approved 10 Gb SFPs ready for each of the SBC 5400 systems identified for this Media Interface change.

Procedure

The following procedure is applicable only when you upgrade from 2x1 GbGbps or 4x1 GbGbps to 1x10 GbGbps interface mode.

2x1 Gbps To 4x1 Gbps Media Interface Upgrade Procedure

This section explains the procedures to upgrade the media interfaces in SBC 5400.

Note

The media interface upgrade from 2X1 Gbps to 4X1 Gbps operation mode is not service impacting. All the four packet ports can be configured at any time. Adding the license, "SBC-4X1GMP", enables the packet ports Pkt2 and Pkt3.

Pre-requisites

  1. SBC 5400 should be running on 05.01.00R000 or higher version.
  2. Procure the required media interface licenses. Refer to SBC 5400 Media Ports and Operational Modes to know the all the for an explanation of media port speeds and required media interface licenses.
  3. Access to original and all the subsequent licenses. Refer to SBC 5400 Interface Modes and Media Port Assignments table for the required licenses.
  4. For a 2x1 Gbps Media Interface, the Media slots 0 and 1 are already occupied with 1 Gb SFPs. Navigate to Monitoring > Dashboard > Ports > Ethernet Ports > Packet Port Status. The Packet Port Status window is displayed. Observe that only the Pkt0 and Pkt1 ports are in Enabled state and the other two are in Disabled state stating no license.
