This object specifies the Local DNS Resource Records. It is local to the address context. It applies to that particular address context.

To View Local Record

On SBC main screen, go to Configuration > System Provisioning > Category: Base Provisioning >DNS > Dns Group > Local Record. The Local Record window is displayed.

The Dns Group - Local Record can be checked for each Address Context or for each Dns Group or for all the Address Contexts and Dns Groups created. Use the drop-down box to select the desired Address Context and Dns Group.

To Edit Local Record

To edit any of the Dns Group - Local Record in the list, click the radio button next to the specific Local Record name.

Make the required changes and click Save at the right hand bottom of the panel to save the changes made.

To Create Local Record

To create a new Dns Group - Local Record, click New Local Record tab on the Local Record List panel.

Parameter

Description

Name

Specifies the name assigned to the DNS server configuration. The value ranges up to 23 characters.

Note: Ensure the DNS local record name (not the FQDN to be resolved) is globally unique.

Host Name

Specifies the host name of the DNS server configuration. The host name must be unique across all records. The values ranges up to 127 characters.

State

Specifies the administrative state of this DNS server configuration. The options are:

  • disabled
  • enabled (default)
Order

Specifies the look up order of the DNS server configuration. The options are:

  • priority (default)—Specifies the look up order is according to the record data entries' priority assignment.

  • roundrobin—Specifies that the calls which land on a SCM task will access the DNS record entries in a round-robin fashion with respect to that SCM task.

Note

There are 4 SCM task.

  • centralized-roundrobin—Specifies that the calls will access DNS record entries in a round-robin fashion with respect to the whole system.

Enter all the required fields. You can click Show only required fields at the left hand bottom of the panel to view and enter only the required fields to create a Local Record.

To Delete Local Record

To delete any of the created Local Records, click the radio button next to the specific Local Record which you want to delete.

Click Delete at the end of the highlighted row. A delete confirmation message appears seeking your decision.

Click Yes to remove the specific Local Record from the list.
