Feature Overview

This feature extends the number of T1/E1 spans supported by SBC 1000 from 2 to 4 spans with the addition of a second T1/E1 line card. Previously the SBC 1000 supported one 2-port T1/E1 line card with the first T1/E1 port being licensed by default and the second port controlled by a software license. In this release, the first port is licensed by default, and the next three ports are configurable through software licensing.

Configuration

Although there are no new configurable items added to SBC 1000 as a result of this feature, the existing applicable configuration elements are extended to include Port Configuration for module 8.

The SBC 1000 Set DS1 Port Type window of the Web UI (Settings > Node Interfaces > Ports>) window is modified to include module 8 as shown below. This window is used to set the port type of module 8 to T1 or E1 for both ports.    Caption

Relay Configuration

The DS1 Relay Configuration object (Settings> Node Interfaces > Ports > Relay Config) allows the user to choose a relay configuration state on modules 7 and 8 of Online, Passthrough or Poweredown Passthrough. The SBC 1000 does not support choosing different settings between the two modules. Limitations

  • Support for four DS1 ports will be available only on the SBC 1000 chassis running firmware release 6.1.0 or higher.
  • SBC 1000 does not do companding law conversion if the ports on one line card is configure as E1 and on the other as T1.
    • The companding law set in the system branch of the Web UI is applied to all the TDM ports in the system.
  • A software license is required for each port of the DS1 line card in the front slot (slot 8) of the SBC 1000 chassis.
  • Certain SKUs like SBC-1K-R-4P-FXSFXO-E may not able to support full call capacity if CAS is used on T1/E1 interfaces or silence based disconnect is enabled on the FXO ports.
