The bottom slot of the SBC chassis contains the System Controller Card (SCC) module, which is also known as Baseboard Management Controller (BMC). SCC is used for chassis management and processing. An SCC is a single CRU model, which contains one SCC/BMC management port (10MB/100MB), one serial port, and one 15-pin alarm port. The SCC product code is SBC-7000-SCC.

The following items are needed to replace a SCC7000:

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap
  • Replacement SCC/BMC
  • A #2 Phillips-head screwdriver

Replacing the System Control Card

Note

The SCC IS NOT a hot pluggable module. Removing the SCC in a running chassis will crash the system.

To replace a SCC/BMC card:

  1. Perform a graceful shutdown of the 
    Spacevars
    0series2
    system through BMC GUI.
  2.  Attach an Electrostatic Discharge wrist strap by using the ESD grounding point on the back panel of the chassis (

  2. Remove all the connections from the ports.
  3. Unscrew the thumb screws using #2 Phillips-head screwdriver, open release lever and pull the SCC/BMC module out.

  4. To replace, slide the new SCC/BMC module in the same slot.
  5. Close the release lever.
  6. Tighten the thumb screw.
  7. Reconnect all the connections to the ports.
  8. Restart SBC through BMC GUI.

CRUs are shipped in electrostatic discharge (ESD) bags and must be handled by using appropriate ESD precautions. The storage environment for these CRUs are:

  • Humidity must be less than 95% (non-condensing).
  • Temperature must be between -40C and +70C.
