Platform Management provides options to:

  • view the SBC application status
  • stop the SBC application
  • start the SBC application
  • restart the SBC application
  • reboot the SBC server.

To install SBC, refer to SBC Core Software Installation and Upgrade Guide.

To View Platform and SBC Application Status

On the SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management. The Platform and SBC Application Controls window is displayed.

The following fields are displayed:

Parameter

Description

Application Status

Displays the status of the SBC application:

  • Running
  • Down
  • Not Ready
 HA Peer Status

Displays the absence or the presence of HA pair:

  • No Peer
  • Peer
Process Status

Process status displays the status of the processes.

Note

Click Refresh to get the current status of the processes.

Description

Start SBC Application

This button starts the SBC application.

Note

Start SBC Application is disabled when SBC application is up and running.

Stop SBC Application

This button stops the SBC application.

Note

Stop SBC Application is disabled when SBC application is down.

Restart SBC Application

This button restarts the SBC application.

Reboot PlatformThis button reboots the SBC server.

To Start the SBC Application

  1. Log on SBC application in EMA Platform Mode.

    Note

    If the application is down then by default you are logged on EMA Platform Mode. For more information on different modes, refer to EMA Platform Mode.

  2. On the SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management. To start the SBC application, click Start SBC Application in the Status panel.

    The Application Status changes from Down to Not Ready.

  3. After all the processes are up and running, the Application Status changes to Running status. Once the application is started, you may log off from EMA Platform Mode and log on again in EMA mode.

     

    Note

    It takes a while for all the processes and the SBC application to start.

To Stop SBC Application

Stopping the SBC application causes service interruption.

  1. On the SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management. To stop the SBC application, click Stop SBC Application in the Status panel.

  2. Click OK to continue. The User Logged Out window is displayed.

  3. Click OK to log out. The Log On window is displayed.

    Note

    You are forced to log off from the SBC application because you just stopped the application and EMA mode is down. For more information on different modes, refer to EMA Platform Mode.

  4. To check the SBC Application status, log on again in EMA Platform Mode. On the SBC main screen go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management.
    Verify that the Application Status is down.

    Whenever SBC application is down, by default you are logged on EMA Platform Mode.

To Restart the SBC

Restarting the SBC application causes service interruption.

  1. On the SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management. To restart the SBC application, click Restart SBC Application on the Status panel.

  2. Click OK to continue. The User Logged Out window is displayed.

  3. Click OK to log out. The Log On window is displayed.

    Note

    You are forced to log off from the SBC application because the application is stopped and EMA mode is down. For more information on different modes, refer to EMA Platform Mode

    It takes a while for the SBC application to restart. During the restart process, you cannot log on SBC Application in EMA mode.

  4. Refresh the log on browser window to verify that EMA mode is available.

  5. Once the EMA mode is available, log on again. On the SBC main screen go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management.


To Reboot the Platform

Rebooting the platform causes service interruption.

  1. On the SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > Platform Management. To reboot the platform, click Reboot Platform on the Status panel.

  2. Click OK to continue. The server rebooting message is displayed.

    Reboot takes 2-3 minutes.

  3. Once re-boot is complete, the Log On window is displayed.
