EMA allows you to generate the system diagnostic information which can be used by Sonus support personnel EMA allows generation of system diagnostic dump to debug system issues. You can save the diagnostic information in any required location.  It also provides option to download and save the log files for using later.

To collect the system diagnostics information, perform the following actions:

  1. On SBC main screen, go to Administration > System Administration > System Diagnostics. The System Diagnostics Dump window is displayed. Activate the options from the list. Refer to the table below for the options and its descriptions.

  2. Click Generate, to proceed. A message is displayed stating the operations and the time taken to complete the same and requests your confirmation to proceed.

  3. Click OK to proceed. Once the files are generated, a confirmation message is displayed.

  4. Click OK to proceed. The generated System Diagnostic file is displayed at the bottom of the page.
  5. Check the radio button of the required file to open or save, click Export.

  6. The selected file can either be opened or saved in your directory. To open, Select Open with option and mention the mode from the drop-down menu and to Save the file, select Save File option and click OK. Provide the location for the file to get saved.

    The System Diagnostics Dump screen consists of the following panes:

    • System Diagnostics Dump Options—Specifies the system dump option information, which consists of the recorded state of the working memory of a computer program at a specific time, generally when the program is terminated abnormally (crashed).
    • System Dump Logs—Specifies the system dump log information.

a). Saves Cores to sysdump (will increase sysdump size)

Specifies whether to collect any application core file or not. This option will increase the size of the sysdump. It does not affect core trace files.

  1. Maximum number of core files to saveEnter the maximum number of core files to save.
    Maximum number of CPS core files to saveEnter the maximum number of CPS files that will be collected by System Dump.
    Maximum number of DSP core files to saveEnter the maximum number of DSP core files that will be collected by System Dump.
    Do not save cores to system dumpThis option when selected omits the Maximum core files to save option if present in the core dump directory during system dump collection.

    This option when selected omits the Maximum CPS cores to save option if present in the core dump directory during system dump collection.

    Do not collect the ACT filesThis option when selected skips collecting the details from the files with the ".act" extension in the generated log files.
    Verbose modeThis option when selected prints every single detail during the system collection to the user.

    Specifies the logs that are collected based on the options selected:

    • The last day(s) : Select the number of days to collect the log from the drop-down list values are from 1-31 days

    OR

    • For a date range- From/To: Select the calendar days for the logs to be collected
    System command resultsDisplays the system dump information that are collected based on the options selected and entered.


  2. In the frame System Diagnostics Dump Options, check/uncheck the boxes against various options, and provide suitable values for other fields.

    2. Check/Uncheck the boxes given against various options. See the table Options - System Diagnostics Dump for description of the options.
    3. Specify if you want to collect logs for a specified number of days or for a specific date range by selecting The last day(s) or For date range option in the Select Collect log for field.

    4. Click Run System Diagnostics Dump. The results are displayed in the System dump command results text box.

Use this option to specify a date or date range. The options are:

    If none of the above options is chosen, and the maximum number of core files, DSP core files or CPS core files are all left blank, the default behavior is to copy only the latest application, DSP and CPS cores and the past seven days of log files.

  1. System Dump process aborts if there are more than two tar files inthe directory. Delete the old tar files and then continue with the system dump process. System Dump process also terminates if the disk space on the server is lesser than or equal to 20%.

     

     

  2. Click Image Added button to proceed. The generated log files are displayed at the bottom, in the System Diagnostics Dump Logs frame.

    ParameterDescription
    NameSpecifies the name of the log file.
    DateSpecifies the date when the log file is created, in MM/DD/YYYY format.
    Time

    Specifies the time when the log file is created in HH:MM:SS format.

  3. Click the Image Added button adjacent to the desired log file to download the file. Click Image Added to delete the log file.

     

  4. To open after download, select Open with option and mention the mode from the drop-down menu and to Save the file, select Save File option and click OK. Provide the location for the file to get saved.
