Air Filters are Customer Replaceable Units (CRU), shown in the figure Air Filter. Check the Air Filter periodically for cleanliness and replace as necessary. The Air Filter product code is SBC-5400-FILTER.

Replace the Air Filter annually and clean it every 90 days. In a dirty environment, or when you start getting frequent temperature alarms, you should always check the intake grilles for debris, and then check the Air Filter to see if it needs to be replaced. If the air in the operating environment is especially dirty, you may have to replace the filter more frequently.

UL Classified

Underwriters Laboratories, Inc has classified Air Filter as Class 2 (flammability only).

Replacing the Air Filter

Note
The Air Filter is hot-swappable meaning that a filter assembly may be replaced and the Bezel may be removed and filter can be cleaned or replaced without powering down the SBC chassis.

Perform the following procedure to replace the Air Filter:

  1. Remove the Bezel assembly (see SBC 5400 Bezel for procedure).
  2. Take the Bezel assembly to a work area not in the vicinity of the air intake of the SBC chassis ensuring any loose particles are not drawn into the SBC chassis during the filter removal procedure.
  3. Set Bezel assembly face down on a work surface.
  4. Rotate the white pull tab until it clears the Bezel frame clip.

  5. Pull upwards on the white tab lifting the one end of the Air Filter out of the Bezel.
  6. Slide the Air Filter in the direction shown to disengage it from the two black tabs at the other end.

  7. Discard the Air Filter.

  8. Vacuum the Bezel frame and front panel of the SBC chassis if necessary, to remove dust and particulate matter.
  9. Insert the replacement Air Filter info the Bezel assembly by reversing the above steps.

  10. Secure the Air Filter to the Bezel assembly by rotating the white pull tab to its original position under the Bezel frame clip.
  11. Reattach the Bezel assembly to the SBC chassis (see SBC 5400 Bezel).

CRUs are shipped in electrostatic discharge (ESD) bags and must be handled using appropriate ESD precautions. The storage environment for these CRUs are:

  • Humidity must be less than 95% (non-condensing).
  • Temperature must be between -40C and +70C.
