This section provides information on installing and running

Prerequisites

Install vSphere

 If there is a need to access the ESXi server remotely, download and install vSphere Client to the desktop.

1. From the VMware ESXi Welcome page, click Download vSphere Client for Windows link.

2. After launching the installerinstalling, login to the vSphere Client from the VMware vSphere Client dialog by entering user credentials and clicking Loginusing the appropriate login credentials.

3. Identify and reserve two static IP addresses prior to creating the virtual

   One IP address each is required for the management port and media port. In the examples below, the management port is on the 10.56.230.x subnet and the media port is on the 10.56.227.x subnet.

Install SBC

SWe Lite on the ESXi Server

1. Once you login Log on to the ESXi server, you can install the spacevars.

2. After landing on the ESXi server, select Select Deploy OVF Template from the File drop-down menu.

3. Enter a URL or a path on your computer (Browse) to download and install Select the location of the OVF package, and then click Nexttwice.

4. The OVF Template Details screen displays. Make note of the information listed and then click Next.

5. The Name and Location screen displays. Rename the

    instance to avoid duplication or deletion of an existing instancemake it unique in the inventory folder, and then click Next.

6. Click Next to display the Disk Format screen.

7. Rename the File

8. Select the Resource Pool to deploy the template, and then click Next.

9. Ensure the Ensure Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed option is selected on the Disk Format screen, and click Next.

10. Click Next to display

    On the Network Mapping screen

    , if required, select a different media port network interface from the Destination Networks drop-down menu, and click Next.

11. Click Next to display the Ready to Complete Page.

Edit the Virtual Machine Settings

1. Select the newly-created 

   Spacevars
   0 series3

   .

2. Select the Edit virtual machine settings link on the Getting Started tab.

   The default Spacevars 0 series3 comes with 512 MB memory, one CPU and five network interfaces. Gather the MAC address information for each interface to further configure the Spacevars 0 series3 interfaces from the console.

3. From the Hardware tab, select Memory from the left panel.

4. From the Memory Configuration panel, modify the memory size if required by clicking the arrows in the Memory Size field and click OK.

   The default memory size is 512 MB. Memory size can be increased to 1GB if desired, but it is not required.

5. Power on the

   Spacevars

    by selecting Power on the virtual machine on the Getting Started tab.

6. Click the Console tab, and wait for the login prompt (press enter a few times if nothing appears).

7. Once the login prompt shows a valid fingerprint number, select the Getting Started tab.

8. Click Power off the virtual machine.

9. Click Edit virtual machine settings.

10. Select Network adapter 1 from the Hardware tab of Virtual Machine Properties.

11. Power off the virtual machine.

12. Make note of the MAC Address and Network Connection as shown below.

13. Repeat steps 69-8 10 for Network adapter 2 through Network adapter 5.
14. Enter the Ethernet 1 Media interface name.

    InfoThe interface mapping shell script requests that the user provide the interface name to map the interface as shown in the WebUI.

    Select Power on the virtual machine from the Getting Started tab.

15. Select the Console tab or from the Summary tab select the Open Console link.

16. Login as user netconfig and password config. This launches the interface mapping shell script. 
     

17. Change the password for user netconfig. The password must be at least six characters in length and include uppercase and lowercase characters, a number, plus other combinations of characters.

18. Enter the admin interface name.
    

19. The MAC address identified previously in the virtual machine editing portion of this procedure is required in order to correctly map the interface. The interface name and MAC address are required to properly activate the interface and have it appear on the WebUI.

    Ensure the admin port is connected to a network with DHCP server enabled.

    If the network mapping and connection are correct, the Admin IP address will display on the console port. If the Admin IP address does not display, check the connections and network mapping.

    After the WebUI initial setup, SSH must be enabled to access the console as user root.

Complete Initial Setup

1. Enter the initial Admin IP address of the

   Spacevars
   0 series3

   into a web browser.

2. Verify/change information on the Initial Sonus SBC Setup window as required, and click OK.

3. Power down the Virtual machine.

4. Power on the Virtual machine.

   When the Virtual machine powers up,  After completion of the previous step, the VM automatically reboots, and after the reboot is complete the Spacevars 0 series3 is ready for use.
