Install vSphere

 If there is a need to access the ESXi server remotely, download and install vSphere Client to the desktop.

  1. From the VMware ESXi Welcome page, click Download vSphere Client for Windows link.

  2. After launching the installerinstalling, login to the vSphere Client from the VMware vSphere Client dialog by entering user credentials and clicking Loginusing the appropriate login credentials.

  2. After landing on the ESXi server, select Select Deploy OVF Template from the File drop-down menu.

Edit the Virtual Machine Settings

  1. Select the newly-created

  3. From the Hardware tab, select Memory from the left panel.
  4. From the Memory Configuration panel, modify the memory size if required by clicking the arrows in the Memory Size field and click OK.

  7. Once the login prompt shows a valid fingerprint number, select the Getting Started tab.
  8. Click Power off the virtual machine.

  15. Select the Console tab or from the Summary tab select the Open Console link.

  16. Login as user netconfig and password config. This launches the interface mapping shell script. 
     

  17. Change the password for user netconfig. The password must be at least six characters in length and include uppercase and lowercase characters, a number, plus other combinations of characters.

  18. Enter the admin interface name.
  19. The MAC address identified previously in the virtual machine editing portion of this procedure is required in order to correctly map the interface. The interface name and MAC address are required to properly activate the interface and have it appear on the WebUI.

    Ensure the admin port is connected to a network with DHCP server enabled.

    If the network mapping and connection are correct, the Admin IP address will display on the console port. If the Admin IP address does not display, check the connections and network mapping.
    After the WebUI initial setup, SSH must be enabled to access the console as user root.
