The Solid State Drive (SSD) is a data storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. The SSD Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) stores the

Spacevars
0model5
platform operating system, application software, and billing files. The SSD product code is SBC-5400-SSDxxx-SPARE.

Parts and Tools Required

  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap
  • Replacement Solid State Drive
  • #2 Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Torque driver with #2 Phillips bit.

Note

To prevent damage from electrostatic discharge, an ESD strap is provided in the accessory kit. See Connecting ESD Wrist Strap to install it.

Replacing the Solid State Drive

Warning

Input power to the chassis must be removed before changing the Solid State Drive.

Perform the following procedure to replace the Solid State Drive:

  1. If the application is running, gracefully shut down the application.
  2. Remove power from the chassis.
  3. Remove the bezel from the front panel of the chassis using the procedure on the page SBC 5400 Bezel.
  4. Attach an Electrostatic Discharge wrist strap to the ESD grounding point on the front panel of the chassis, and place the other end around your wrist (see Connecting ESD Wrist Strap for details)
  5. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw (a spring-loaded screw that does not detach from the device) securing the lever of the SSD being replaced as shown below.

  6. Pull the lever until the SSD disengages from the

    Spacevars
    0series
    chassis.

    Note

Insert the new SSD into the same slot that previously contained the old SSD.

  7. Remove the SSD and place it into the ESD protective bag.

  8. Remove the new SSD from the ESD bag and insert it fully into the empty SSD slot.

  9. Close the lever and tighten the captive screw to 10 inch/lbs using the torque driver.

  10. Reapply power to

    Spacevars
    0model5
chassis (refer to appropriate Power Supply CRU for guidance).

  11. Verify that the SSD LED is Green (located to the right of SSD).

  12. Unplug the ESD wrist strap from the front of the chassis.

  13. Reattach the bezel assembly to

    Spacevars
    0model5
    (see SBC 5400 Bezel).
